Be Well Boston was founded in 2009 by husband and wife Jim Memory and Katrina Baker. Jim always wanted to own a massage practice, and Katrina followed suit. Together they grew this dream of an office into a reality.

They would often have long chats, or “mountain therapy sessions” while hiking in the White Mountains of NH, where their minds were free and clear of the usual busy life chatter. It was there, entrenched in nature, that the vision for the office was born. Quality was the theme throughout, from the type of service they wanted to provide, to company culture as well as connections with like minded practitioners in the area. The highest quality therapeutic massage, highest quality therapists, and highest quality work environment. They’ve stuck with this main principle since they opened and it’s proven to be the backbone of the practice.

what to expect:

  • First session: you will be asked to fill out a brief intake form in which you can list your reason(s) for coming in. Your therapist will ask you questions before the session regarding your areas of concern and plan a session based on that discussion.

  • On the table: you will be lying on the massage table under a top sheet, and only the area being worked on will be exposed. We use various draping techniques to keep other areas covered. You can undress to your comfort level and our therapists can work with you regardless of what that comfort level is.

  • Massage: we realize that each client is an individual, and while two people may present with similar issues, those two people will most likely have different tolerances to the depth of work we provide. We will check in with you frequently throughout the session to make sure that you’re comfortable with the level of pressure we’re using. This is your massage, and while you’re putting yourself in our hands, we always welcome feedback about pressure, location of work, or techniques being used.

  • Post Massage: because we specialize in various modalities of deep tissue work, some soreness after a session may occur. We always encourage staying hydrated after a session to keep the tissues healthy, and also provide recommendations based on what we find during the session. Again, questions or feedback are always welcome.
